Robin Atkins Obituary

Robin Winston Atkins

August 9, 1957 - January 3, 2025

Robin, a gracious woman of faith with a servant's heart, went to be eternally with the Lord on January 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, Stuart Winston; and is survived by her husband of 43 years, James Randall; their children, Meghan, Drew, and Rachel; her mother, Helen Winston; her brother, James; her sister, Donna; and a host of extended family.

She was a faithful servant of Staples Mill Road Baptist Church, both as a member for more than 40 years and as the church secretary for 28 years. She found great joy working in the Children's Ministry, singing in the choir, and conversing with the many office visitors throughout the week. There wasn't a person she wasn't willing to help.

Robin also served her family well, always putting their needs and desires before her own. She loved traveling with Randall, often to VMI football games, but also to well-hidden bed and breakfast getaways. As one of their biggest cheerleaders, Robin attended every dance recital, sporting event, and school function the kids put on the calendar. She loved being with and talking about her family!

Family and friends will be received at Bliley's Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Road, on January 9, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Staples Mill Road Baptist Church on January 10, 2025, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to SMRBC's Children's Ministry.

Randall,
Thinking of you and the family. Robin was a co-math-major friend in college, and I went with her and Dr. Bowen to tour VT when she was applying for her masters.
Funny story - I grew up in Irvington, VA, and we small town girls didn´t have what the city had. One Saturday Robin took several of us girls to her house - I can´t remember what for - and then we went out to lunch. They agreed on Pizza Hut, the one that used to be at Parham and Broad. They decided to order a pepperoni pizza, and I had only ever had a Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee box cheese pizza. I didn´t even know what pepperoni was! But 45+ years later Pizza Hut´s thin crust pepperoni pizza remains a favorite, thanks to Robin´s introduction.
May you all find comfort and the peace that passes all understanding in the memories you cherish of sweet Robin.
