Robin Barkley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hughes Funeral Home, LLC - Trenton on Nov. 1, 2024.
Robin, affectionately known as "Bobbi" or "Mom Bob's" as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, graced our world on July 23, 1967, born to the loving embrace of Phyllis and Lanny Barkley in Salisbury, Md. She departed from our midst on October 27, 2024, at her home, leaving behind a woven tapestry of cherished memories as she was called to God's embrace for her eternal rest.
Robin's journey of knowledge began within the Wicomico County school system, where she laid the foundation for her future. In her adult years, she pursued further education, nurturing dreams of becoming a counselor for those grappling with substance abuse. It was a calling she felt deeply, as she sought to channel her own experiences to guide others through challenges she had valiantly conquered. Throughout her life, she embraced various local roles, including stints at DavCo Restaurants, RGIS, and Bailey's Taxi Cab Company, each contributing to her vibrant story.
Robin's walk with Christ began in the pews of the Salisbury Seventh Day Adventist Church (now New Life) in Salisbury, Md., whilst in attendance with her mother, grandmother and a host of other family members. Robin was also active with the Pathfinders and the junior church choir.
Robin was a radiant spirit, embodying kindness and love in all her endeavors. When she embraced someone, she poured her heart into that affection, and then loved even deeper. While her family held a special place in her heart, Robin was undeniably a "Mommy's Girl", with her mother at the very core of her universe. Robin was an undeniable force and lived life on her own terms. For a person who often had so little she always gave so much. Her strength and compassion were truly extraordinary.
Her passions included the written word, engaging in board games like Scrabble, and delving into knowledge that stretched her intellect. An insatiable curiosity drove her to seek out new experiences, ensuring that life with her was never mundane.
She leaves behind, a grieving legacy, including her beloved only child, Erykah Jones, and her cherished three grandchildren: Jamare Jones, Jamere Jones, and Leniyah Pompilus, all residing in Trenton, NJ. Two devoted sisters, Tanya Carroll of Salisbury, Md., and Lana Barkley (Willy) of Woodbridge Va., will also carry her memory forward. Additionally mourning is Robin's loving stepfather, Alfred Hankerson, six neices and nephews, Jordden Barkley, Jaime McNeill(Duane), Stacy Carroll, Autumn Barkley, Rachel Waters(Alma), Randall Waters. Along with thirteen great-neices and nephews and a magnitutude of other family and close friends, remain to honor her vibrant spirit. Robin was proceeded in death by both parents Phyllis Hankerson and Lanny Barkley, also both maternal grandparents, Ruth and Richard Roberts, paternal grandfather, Lycurtis "Tex" Barkley. Also, a very special uncle, Randy Roberts.
