Robin Burns, age 67, of Cornelius passed away on 9/23/2005 after a battle with nonsmoker lung cancer. Robin Ann Burns was born on March 17,1958 with her twin brother, Patrick, and grew up in the small town of Cumberland, RI. She always wanted to travel the world, so she majored in International Studies and Economics at American University in Washington, DC and then went on to earn an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. She had a gift for analysis and worked in Risk Asset Review and Management for 37 years with large regional and national banks, most recently Wells Fargo and Regions Bank. Robin moved from Boston to Charlotte in 1994 to work for First Union Bank. In Charlotte, she met her husband, John Babb, and they shared 18 adventure-filled years together, 13 of them married. She loved their home on Lake Norman, boating with friends, traveling extensively to places she had longed to see as a child – Greece, Italy, Great Britain, France, Spain, the Caribbean, Ireland to name a few. Robin was an animal lover. She gave up meat after watching the 1995 film "Babe". She never drove by a stray dog. She once spent an hour trying to round up two stray dogs on a busy street and eventually succeeded even after the Animal Control Officer had given up. They were reunited with their owners. Robin will be remembered as a loving wife, stepmother, and grandmother, as well as a devoted pet parent and a loyal and trustworthy friend. She loved spending time with her husband and her wonderful family. She had a wide circle of good friends and enjoyed their time together at the beach, on the lake, traveling to new places, kayaking, listening to live music and hiking. Those who knew her will remember her kindness and generosity. She had an open heart and truly valued the uniqueness of everyone she met. Robin is survived by her husband, John Babb, her two stepchildren, Christine Babb-Goddard and Christopher Babb, her grandchildren, Kalei and Amelia, and her great grandson Crew as well as her brother, Patrick Burns, her sister, Carol Manfredi, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved pets, Milo, Bluey, Josie and Coco. She was predeceased by her parents, Doris Savoy and John Burns. A celebration of Robin's life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078, beginning with a visitation at 1:00 PM followed immediately by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
