Robin Hendry

Robin Scott Hendry died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on June 27, 2024, in Hollister, Missouri. He was 65 years old.
Robin is preceded in death by his father, Charles Abbott Hendry. He is survived by his wife, Tamela Hendry; mother, Helen Hendry; two brothers: Rick (Laura) and Dave (Jen); children: Alyson (Rachel), Elliot, and Isaac Hendry; and granddaughter, Millie Mae Scott-Hendry; as well as his stepchildren: Mesa Knifechief and Mitchell Tollefson and their children: Maia, Gunner, Lundyn, Charlee, Myles, Madden, and Ella.
Robin was born on February 1, 1959, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to Helen Griffiths Hendry and Charles Abbott Hendry. He graduated from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music, becoming a talented percussionist who performed with the St. Louis Symphony and Compton Heights Concert Band. Robin taught and played various gigs throughout St. Louis. In 1995, he moved to Springfield and began a thirty-year career of music in the Springfield-Branson area. He played with the Springfield Symphony, Shoji Tabuchi, Andy Williams, and at Silver Dollar City. He could also be found filling in for the area's many percussionists. He taught percussion at Drury University, Evangel University, and Central Bible College. On January 7, 2012, he met his wife, Tamela, at a gig. They spent the next twelve years making beautiful music together, including developing and leading their church's music program. Out of a lifetime of music, Robin especially enjoyed playing in symphonies and with the Horse Creek Band. Robin was known for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor. His kindness and faith preceded him. He will be lovingly missed and remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at LifeSong UMC (353 State Hwy 76, Reeds Spring, MO 65737).
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations in Robin's name to Play It Forward SWMO, https://playitforwardswmo.org/donate-funds/. Donations will help provide instruments to underprivileged children and underfunded school music programs in Southwest Missouri. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
