Robin West Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home on Jan. 2, 2026.
With family and friends gathered, I passed from this life on Dec. 29, 2025, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

My greatest joy in this life was being a wife and mother, which was not my life's plan in my mid-twenties, but as I have been reminded many times, "man plans and God laughs." Being a part of Team West is better than any plan I could have come up with. The Handsome Soldier and The Army Brats were my whole world!

I hope to be remembered as a loving daughter, a caring sister, and a good friend.

I hope that I am remembered as a loving and supportive wife. The "team" that JR and I have created has brought me more joy than I could ever express.

When it comes to being a mother, I hope I was meanest but most fair, and I hope I exercised grace and forgiveness. Most of all I hope that I was loving. I hope that I was able to be the fun mom but show responsibility, and I hope I provided some magic to holidays and birthdays, seeing your eyes light up was precious and priceless.

I loved to entertain and host parties. Making people feel welcome and special was important to me.

One of my greatest joys was being a Committee Cook. Putting prayer and love into the food our guests were taking with them was humbling.

I will love and miss all of my friends and family but my Handsome Soldier will forever have my heart. He is the greatest man I have ever known.

Until we meet again.

Robin West was born on December 7, 1970, to Robert Stephen and Katy Anne (Revard) Tingtella in Santa Monica, CA. As an Army Brat, she moved around a lot but spent her summers in Pawhuska and loved dancing and cooking with her grandmother, mama and aunts.

Robin worked for Tribal and City governments and traveled with her friends until she met her future husband on a craps table in Topeka, KS.

She married the love of her life, 1LT JR West, on September 5, 1998, and together they had their own four Army Brats. They too traveled the world with the Army but made sure that their children were grounded in their Osage culture, spending every summer in Oklahoma. All of their boys have served on committees and their daughter helped her cook.

Robin loved everything about being Osage and loved to cook. She was a great-great-granddaughter of Chief Baconrind and also comes from the Brave, Strikeaxe and Choteau families. She was honored to be selected as a head cook for the
