Neva June West

Neva June (Harness) West, age 63, of Oneida, Tennessee, passed away on February 3, 2026, at Big South Fork Medical Center, with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 16, 1962, in the Bull Creek community to the late Robbin and Betty Harness. Neva was a member of Buffalo Bridge Baptist Church. Neva was a proud grandmother. Her grandsons were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed making candy with her sisters, taking girls' beach trips, shopping, growing flowers, canning and cooking, and she loved pestering her younger brother, Edmond, and treasured all the farm time they spent over the years, along with the pictures he sent during her final days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tony West; her sister: Sheila Ellis; brother-in-law: Larry Ellis; her mother and father-in-law: Estel and Artie West; sisters-in-law: Hastellene Buttram and husband Kari, Patsy West; and brothers-in-law Donald Lee West and wife Linda, Hank West, and James Henderson West and wife Edna.

She is survived by her son: Tommy West and wife Makayla, Anthony Newport and wife Heather; and Chris Bauswell and wife Betsy; Grandsons: Creyton and Connor West, Dalton Newport and wife Katlynn, Logan Newport, Rylan Griffin, and Gabriel Bauswell; Great-granddaughter: Lynnleigh Newport. Neva is also survived by her sisters: Shelby Newport and husband Archie, Anita Harness and husband Rev. Dudley Harness, Edna Hicks and husband Eric, and her brother Edmond Harness and wife Buffy. Brother-in-Law: Darrel West and wife Marsha, and Reuben West. Sister-in-law: Estellene Terry and Darrnell West; Nieces: Lenita Bowling, Tonya Carson, Jessi Harness, Latosha Detharidge, Erica Olinger, Tangi Ellis, Lesley Sleven, and Dara West; Nephews: Eric Newport, Jamie Newport, Josh Harness, Shawn Harness, Chris Harness, Dalton Harness, Gary Ellis, Lee West, Brandon Terry, Wade Terry, and Kojack West; Special Friends: Sue Lay, Lisa Brummett, Tracey Orick, Susie Dueso, Shirley Jeffers, Donna Wright, Joann Miller, Tola Reed, Hope Grooms, Stacey Newport, and Sharon Silcox. She also leaves behind many great-nieces, great-nephews, and other special friends whom she loved dearly.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Big South Fork Medical Center, Park West CCU, Mountain People's Health Clinic, Buckeye Home Medical, and Mark's Family Pharmacy for the love and care shown during her final days.

Friends may visit with the West family on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 5 pm until 8 pm in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 11 am in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home will Rev. Dudley Harness and Johnny Grooms officiating. Music will be provided by Creyton West and RaeLynne Blevins and Dudley Harness and Family.

Committal service will follow in the John Freeman Sexton Cemetery in the Phillips Flats Community. Pallbearers will be Chris Harness, Dalton Harness, Jeremy Carson, Caleb Carson, Koby Byrd, Josh Harness, Kojack West, and Issac Silcox. Honorary Pallbearers: Creyton West, Connor West, and Brandon Newport.
