Rochelle (Shellie) Elder, age 63, passed away on October 5th, 2023, from pneumonia, in Sandy UT, surrounded by loving family. Shellie was born to John T. and Nancy F. Elder on July 13th, 1960 in Salt Lake City UT.
Shellie was an exceptional daughter of God, who suffered her entire life with physical and mental disabilities. However, she remained a loving, cheerful and sweet spirit who loved everyone she met. She graduated from Jordan Valley School for the disabled. Growing up she participated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints mutual program, and was in many of their yearly productions. She has been Clara in the Nutcracker, Noah’s wife, and many others. She loved dogs, puzzles and especially dancing. Shellie enjoyed fishing with her family, particularly her late sister Kris and she was pretty good at it. She reveled in her TV shows, and never gave up her love for The Dukes of Hazard and The Hardy Boys. Specially John Schneider and Shawn Cassidy.
Shellie is survived by her mother Nancy Elder, brother Michael Elder (Dawna), and sisters Laurel Roper and Brooke Fear (Robert). Preceded in death, and welcomed into the arms of her father John Elder and sister Kristen Ellis.
We would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Alta View Hospital ICU, who lovingly helped Shellie with her battle and helped her family through the battle’s end.
The funeral will be Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm (MST) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel.
235 E. 9800 S.
