Roderic Young MacDonald, affectionately known as Rym, 68, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, cherished by his wife Jacqueline Aldridge. Born in Plymouth, MA on March 30, 1957, he crafted a life full of humor, generosity, quiet strength, and deep devotion to those lucky enough to know him.

A true Jack of all trades, Rym dedicated his career to information technology, where he was admired for his integrity, dedication, and insatiable curiosity. Beyond the screen, he found joy in his four dogs, a bird, and a cat—all of whom adored him and will dearly miss his company. He delighted in technology and carpentry (because who else could fix a leaky faucet and reboot a server with equal flair?), tending to his home and lawn, he loved music, and those peaceful moments spent on his front porch with his soulmate, Jackie.

Those who knew Rym will fondly remember his steady presence, sharp wit, and the way he made everyone feel truly seen and valued. His kindness and practical care left a lasting impression on neighbors, colleagues, and countless friends.

A proud member of AA, Rym celebrated 30+ years of sobriety, making many lifelong friends along the way. If you had the honor of hearing his story, you likely never forgot him—his impact was as profound as his humor was infectious.

Survived by: His loving wife, Jacqueline Aldridge; stepdaughter Megan Kauffman; Tyler Kauffman; Tara Brown; Jackie’s family, who embraced him warmly; and the many friends he cherished and stayed connected with over the years. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Mae Dearborn, father Roderic Noyes MacDonald, sister Barbara Stearns MacDonald, and their beloved little bird Floofy—who, we hope, is perched on his head right now.

A service honoring his life will be announced at a later date, reflecting his wish to celebrate in both Ohio, where he lived for 12 years, and Massachusetts.

Friends and family are warmly invited to share memories, photos, and stories below , so that his legacy of compassion and quiet strength can live on.

He will be deeply missed.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
