SAINT PARIS - Roderick" Chester Boitnott, 88, of Saint Paris, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Hospice of Miami County, Troy, Ohio.
Roderick was born on December 4, 1936, in Christiansburg, Ohio to the late Chester Leroy Boitnott and Mary Alice (Jordan) Rees.
Following his graduation from the 1955 class of Christiansburg-Jackson High School, Roderick would go on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. Following that, he would go on to work for, and eventually retire from, Hobart's. In his free time, Roderick loved to be outdoors fishing and mushroom hunting, as well as cheering on his Cincinnati Reds. Most of all, however, Roderick loved spending time with his family, especially watching and supporting his grandchildren as they grew up.
Roderick is survived by his sons, Brian (Shannon) Boitnott and Rick Boitnott; granddaughter, Callie (Andrew) Warner; great-granddaughters, Adalynn and Raelynn Warner; niece and nephew, Temple Brown and Mitch Milligan; as well as brother-in-laws, Richard Ayres and John Green.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Elaine (Ayres) Boitnott; his parents; his sister, Betty Lou Green; as well as a brother-in-law, Joe Ayres.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Honey Creek Cemetery, St. Paris, Ohio with Pastor Howard "Chick" Edwards officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Pearce Kerns A.L. Post #120. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice of Miami County for their compassionate care, as well as Roderick's dear friends in the local community, who helped make the recent years lighter during his time of need. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County (3230 N. County Road 25A, Troy, Ohio, 45373).
