Roderick Smith 62, of Keokuk passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his home.
He was born on March 27, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Nellie F. Dawson. Roderick graduated from Keokuk Senior High School before proudly enlisting in the United States Reserves. Following his military service, he worked for Job Corps in Denison, Iowa. After returning to Keokuk, he dedicated nineteen years of service to Big River Box.
Rod was a passionate wrestling enthusiast and attended as many meets as he could. He enjoyed listening to all kinds of music and, most importantly, cherished spending quality time with his family.
He is survived by his brother, Anthony (Pamela) Smith of Keokuk; his sister, Cynthia (Robert) Williams of Keokuk; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Dawson Bradley; his grandparents; one brother; one nephew; four aunts; and two uncles.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
