Rodger Brewen Obituary

RODGER DALE BREWEN Rodger Dale Brewen, 80, a resident of Wooldridge, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his home. Rodger was born on August 11, 1944, in Ironton, Missouri, the son of Joseph Brady Brewen and Aline (Robinson) Brewen. On April 2, 1966, in Columbia, he married Shirley West, and she survives. Rodger served his country proudly in the United States Army. During his tour, he spent 16 months stationed in Germany, where he and his wife Shirley were able to travel and visit many different countries across Europe. Rodger served as a shop teacher at the New Franklin High School for a few years before taking the position as the Industrial Technology teacher at the VoTech, now known as Boonslick Technical Education Center (BTEC), where he taught woodworking and welding. Later in his career, he became the Director of VoTech and continued in that position for many years before retiring in 2000. In his spare time, Rodger has always been an avid woodworker. He made many pieces of furniture and completed many home improvement projects for family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors, tending to the garden, or working in the yard. He also had a love for Bluegrass music, great books, and the challenge of putting a puzzle together. Over the years, he took many trips with his family and loved his summer trips to the Rocky Mountains. The thing Rodger cherished the most was the time he was able to spend with his family, whether it be in Missouri, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Texas, or New Hampshire. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Rodger will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his two daughters, Tanya Brewen of Boonville and Kristina Boggs of Wooldridge; two grandchildren, Brett Boggs of Wooldridge and Brady Boggs of Columbia; four siblings, Barbara Richardson of Alpine, TX, Michael Brewen of Berwyn, PA, Teresa Halbersma of Overland Park, KS, and Rhonda Jolley and husband John of Cheyene, WY, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, Jim Richerson and Marion Halbersma. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service following at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Riverside Christian Church, 17111 Klinton Dr., Boonville, MO 65233. Arrangements are under the direction of Howard-Millard Funeral Home, 1397 W. Ashley Rd., Boonville, MO 65233. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.howardfh.com

Mr Brewen was so sweet. I knew him from Vo-tech. He liked to joke with us kids and we all enjoyed seeing him. He will be deeply missed. The family has my deepest sympathy.
