Rodger Fox Obituary

Rodger L. Fox
Jacksonville - Rodger L. Fox, 80, of Jacksonville passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at his residence. He was born, June 23, 1943, in Jerseyville, IL, the son of Clarence R. and Ruth L. Kendall Fox. He married Diana Helmer, Oct. 19, 1965, and they later divorced. He then married Susan D. (Renoud) Hileman, July 19, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Sue, of Jacksonville; his children Staci (Andy) Benjamin of Oak Creek, CO and Sean (Carolyn) Fox of Bastrop, TX; his stepchildren Brian (Dina) Hileman of Farmington, CT and Brock (Lisa) Hileman of Winchester; his great grandchildren, Joshua Fox, Jordan Fox, Sophia Benjamin, Andrew Hileman, Sarah Hileman, Brooklyn Hileman, Blake Thrasher, Anna Hileman and Bo Hileman. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence, mother Ruth (Chester) Day, brother, Don Fox, step son, Russell "Rusty" Hileman and Sue's parents Russ and Joan Renoud.
Rodger was dedicated to God and his country. He served in the US Airforce and spent time in Japan. He loved being a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville and enjoyed his weekly prayer group. Helping others was another passion of Rodger's. This was evidenced by his loyal membership of the Jacksonville Ambucs, his nine year service on the Pathway Board of Directors, his volunteer position at the Red Cross, and the caravan driving he did for BCBS. Rodger was a lifelong entrepreneur; doing everything from making candles to owning a bar. For much of his life he worked in the sales and manufacturing of livestock trailers and presently was co-partner to his wife, Sue, at Time Square Sewing Complex. Rodger was an animated storyteller, quick to laugh, and a lover of food and travel. Those who knew him were never the same.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. A visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to Ride for the Relay; a supporter of Cancer research and the local Mia Ware Foundation.
