Rodger Thomas

Rodger Thomas, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Baltimore, MD.

Born on July 15, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, Rodger was the son of Kenwood Thomas and Sara (Asbury) Thomas. He grew up in Baltimore and carried a lifelong connection to the community he cherished.

Rodger married Carol Thomas in 1971, and together they built a loving life over more than 54 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and family man who treasured every moment spent with his loved ones.

Rodger lived a life defined by dedication, service, and joy in simple pleasures. A proud and active member of his church, he served faithfully as a deacon and took special care in visiting and supporting fellow members of his congregation. He was a Mason, committed to the principles of fellowship and community.

Over the years, Rodger enjoyed a variety of interests that reflected his energetic and curious spirit. He loved photography, capturing the world through his lens. He also enjoyed shooting sports-whether skeet, handguns, or time spent at the range. Music brought him great joy, both listening to it and playing it. Above all, Rodger cherished spending time with his family, sharing stories, laughter, and the moments that will be remembered for generations.

Rodger worked as a security guard, a role that suited his hardworking nature and strong sense of responsibility. Known for being talkative, friendly, and an engaging storyteller, he never met a stranger. His dedication- to his work, his church, his friends, and his family-defined his life and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Rodger is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Carol Thomas; his daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Ron, and his son, Michael, and his wife, Teresa. He is also survived by his grandchildren-Shane, Sarah, Evan, Colton, Parker, Delilah, and Adelynn-as well as three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Family and friends are welcome to visit Epiphany Lutheran Church on Monday, December 15, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Epiphany Lutheran Church is located at 4301 Raspe Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21206. A viewing will be held from 9:00-9:45 AM, followed by a funeral service from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Greenmount Cemetery in York, PA, at approximately 1:30 PM.
