Rodney David Blackman, 67, of Oxford, NY. Passed away with his loving family by his side on October 8, 2025. Rod was born in Norwich, NY, son of the late Lester Blackman and Yvonne “Bonnie” Loomis Blackman. Rod was predeceased by his parents, and by his daughter Bobbie Jo Blackman, his father-in-law Lynn Ross Sr. and by many cousins and nephews.
Rod is survived by his loving wife Barb Blackman and daughter Nichole Weeks. He was also survived by his sister Deb and husband Jim Hubbard. Rod also leaves behind his grandchildren Alex Beckwith (Drew Nelson), Zach Beckwith (Catherine Maynard), Kaydence Bush, Quryn Weeks, Madison Weeks, Molly Weeks, Evie Weeks, Emma Weeks, and great grandchildren Briella Tefft, Weston Beckwith, Silas Nelson, and Otis Nelson. Rod is also survived by his aunts and uncles Leslie and Joyce Blackman and Dale Loomis. He also leaves behind many in-laws on his wife’s side of the family. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Rod was a heavy equipment operator. He learned the skills from a young age from his father Lester. Rod worked many years working construction, starting off as a groundman and working his way up to obtaining his heavy equipment certifications. During this time, he married his wife Barb Blackman, and they spent a beautiful 52 years loving and supporting one another. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rod was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, boating, racing, four wheeling, and gardening. He also enjoyed bowling and playing pool. Rod retired at the age of 62, most recently working for Hinkle & McCoy and eventually retiring from D&M Electric. and enjoyed having the extra time to spend with his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren learn and grow.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Rod’s memory can be made to the Oxford American Legion Post # 376 or to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY 13830. A celebration of life for Rod will be announced at a later date. Friends and family may share memories and condolences by visiting www.behefuneralhome.com.
