NORWOOD – On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Mr. Rodney Keith Johnson, 52, passed away peacefully with his beloved daughter by his side.
There will be a memorial service at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Rodney was born June 16, 1973 in Union County, NC and was a son of Renee Horne Helms and the late Ronald Keith Johnson. He was a graduate of Anson Senior High School.
He was a well-known heavy equipment operator and truck driver.
He was an amazing cook and enjoyed hosting cookouts and pig-pickings and making catfish stews. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Harleigh Johnson (Chris Hethcox) of Wadesboro; his mother and step-father, Renee and Michael Helms of Monroe; his step-sons, Mitchell Sutton and Colton Sutton both of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Navy Katherine Sutton, Finley Ray Sutton, and Ryleigh Katherine Sutton; his uncle and aunts, R.L. Horne (Debbie) of Shelby, Barbara Gathings of Wadesboro and Shirley Johnson of Mt. Croghan, SC.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Graham and Louise Horne, Rufus Johnson and Kate Johnson Deese.
Rodney will be remembered as a loving father and son. He enjoyed times shared with his friends, hanging out at Rayfield’s Meat Center, finding a time to stop by and visit with his friends wherever they may be and always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
