Rodney Delano Pittman, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026.

Rod was born on Aug, 7, 1965 in Wadsworth to Olen D. Sr. and Betty Jean (Gammell) Pittman and was a member of the Norwayne Class of 1983. Rod had worked in the oil fields, at Seville Bronze, and for the Village of Creston. He had been working with his son, Luke at Pittman Towing and Repair. Rod was a man of faith and attended Creston Community Church where he had played in the worship band. He loved racing, having raced at Wayne County Speedway and at Lakeville where he won the Championship one year. Rod enjoyed being outdoor, hunting and working on cars and he loved playing the guitar and the fiddle.

Surviving are his sons, Luke Pittman of Rittman, Samuel Pittman and Joshua Pittman both of West Salem; his sister, Wanda and husband Thomas Foster of Creston; brother Olen Jr. “Peanut” and his wife Michelle Pittman of Creston; nieces and nephews, Paige, Peyton, Sidney, Andrea, Wesley, Jazmine, Bradley and Christian; many friends including lifelong friend, Bill Yost and his faithful companion, Odin.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be Monday, Feb. 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Chaffin officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.
