Inez Marie Bowman, 80, of Creston passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster after a lengthy illness.
Inez was born on Nov. 3, 1945, in Sardis, OH to Lester and Lula (Ingold) Bertschy and was a 1964 graduate of Norwayne High School. On June 24, 1964, she married Gary L. Bowman and they shared nearly 62 wonderful years together. Inez had worked at Buehler's for over 30 years having worked at the Milltown and Town Market stores in Wooster. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and in recent years, attended Canaan Free Will Baptist Church. She loved flower gardening and working in her greenhouse at home and she loved going to the River House on the Ohio River or just sitting on her home porch and enjoyed the beauty of their land. Inez enjoyed playing euchre and was a wonderful cook, but her greatest enjoyment was her family and being Grandma to her three grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Gary; son, Greg Bowman; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Stahl; her three grandchildren, Leslie and her husband, Justin Frybarger, Nicholas Bowman and Sydney Bowman; her sisters and brother, Arlene Fetzer, Larry Bertschy and Lucy and her husband, Larry Herman; brother-in-law, Harley Hoisington; her former daughter-in-law, Teresa and several nieces and nephews.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shirley Hoisington and a brother, Floyd Bertschy.
Services will be Thursday, Jan. 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Stephen Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 who took wonderful care of Inez over the past 10 months.
