Rodney A. Waage, age 91, husband of the late Valerie S. Waage of Albany, NY entered into heavenly rest on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Teresian House Nursing Home in Albany. Rodney was born on June 23, 1933, in Bergen, Norway and immigrated to the United States after World War II. Upon settling in Brooklyn, NY, he became a US citizen and served two years in the US Army as a Combat Engineer, and then four years in the US Army Reserves until 1962. Rodney was an avid skier, water skiing Greenwood Lake in the summers and the steep mountain slopes of the Catskills in the winter. He met his beloved wife, Valerie, when joining Norway Ski Club in Phoenicia, NY, and made numerous lifelong friendships. They were married on September 20, 1963, and soon after moved to New City, NY where they raised their 3 children, Christine, David, and Karin. He worked as a machinist / tool and die maker for numerous companies in the Rockland County area, including Plessey Semiconductors, Handy & Harman Precious Metals, and Minigrip Inc.
Most importantly, Rodney loved God with a tender heart and worshiped the Lord Jesus with his wife Valerie at Gracepoint Gospel Fellowship in New City for almost 30 years.
He spent his final years at Teresian House in Albany, where he was often known to serenade his friends and those who lovingly cared for him with his free-spirited melodies, and for his love for cake, ice cream, and all things sweet.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmar and Alida (Stahl) Waage, his brother Warren of Las Vegas, NV, his sister Lillian Truesdell of Sanford, ME, and his wife of over 60 years, Valerie (Johnson).
