Ronald R. "Ron" Waage, age 78, of rural Argyle, WI, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at his home in Argyle. He was born February 10, 1946, in Monroe, WI, the son of Orville and Mary Alice (Mason) Waage. Ron grew up in Argyle and graduated from Argyle High School. After high school, Ron earned his bachelor's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin Platteville and later his master's degree in education from Winona State University in Minnesota. He spent 33 years not only teaching in his hometown but molding minds and building the character of many children – a job he never took lightly and always looked forward to going to. Ron was united in marriage to Diane Burreson on July 22, 1967, at Argyle Methodist Church. Together, they made Argyle their forever home where they raised their family and watched their grandchildren grow up.
Ron is survived by his wife: Diane at home; his sons: Kurt (Theresa) Waage of Middleton, WI, and Kreg (Lesa) Waage of Argyle; his grandchildren: Christopher (Ashley) Shambrook of Argyle, Stephan (Charley) Shambrook of Monroe, WI; Trey (Jozey) Waage of Argyle, Tristan Waage of Monroe, Mason Waage of Argyle, and Ike Waage of Argyle; his great-grandchildren: Madison, Lacy, Brayden, and Emma Shambrook, Ryleigh and Weston Shambrook, and Spencer Waage; and his brother: Gary (Theresa) Waage of Janesville, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Daryl Waage.
Outside of teaching in his hometown of Argyle, Ron was passionate about continuing to be a positive role model to his students. It was this that drove him to coach basketball and baseball, and in the summer dedicated many hours to the summer program at the park. Being an inspiration to kids was what drove Ron to be the positive individual he was. Every student Ron taught was better because they knew him.
Ron's family was his entire world – especially his sons and his grandsons. He was extremely proud of all of them and made sure they knew that every chance he could. The trips they made to go hunting or fishing or just the days they spent around the house chatting, were all memorable to Ron, and he cherished every moment with them.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a Time of Remembrance to follow at 7:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (801 E. Milwaukee St., Argyle). Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
