Age 84 of Erin, NY, was born June 30, 1938, son of the late Ralph E. and Grace Thomas Wainwright, and passed away November 26, 2022.
Rodney was also predeceased by his step-mother Viola Satterlee Wainwright; and sister Varina Starkey.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 64 years Patricia Wilson Wainwright; sons Thomas A. (Janine) and Timothy L. (Alison); grandchildren Gregory A. (Sarah), Melissa Wainwright, and Britny Wainwright; 5 great grandchildren; brother James (Candice); sister Patti Jean (Thomas) Beatty, and several nieces and nephews.
Rodney is a graduate of Southside High School, Elmira, Class of 1956. He also served in the Army Reserve as an MP.
Rodney dedicated his life to others and was the former Fire Chief and life long member of the Erin Volunteer Fire Co., Boy Scout Fire Explorer Leader for Erin, Chemung County Deputy Fire Coordinator, NY State Fire Instructor, NY State Fire Warden, and past trustee of the Erin Historical Society. He was also a circus model builder and traveled with various circus and love to perform as Rodo the Clown.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
