Rodrigo (Rod) Silao, 87, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born in Janiuay, Iloilo, Philippines. Rod was the eldest of 7 children of Cornelio Silao and Maria Abalanzar. He was happily married to Teresita (Tess) Cardeno for 46 years until her passing in 2014. Rod joined the Philippine Air Force in 1957. He retired from the Philippine Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 27 years of service. After he retired from the military, Rod worked as a Department of Defense Guard at Clark Air Force Base until he immigrated to the USA with his family. According to Rod, his greatest accomplishment in life was having three beautiful, loving, and caring daughters. He was a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, always supporting and celebrating their milestones and achievements. Rod loved to sing hymns and read the Bible and devotional books. He was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Orange Park. Rod is survived by his daughters Rowena Shelenberger, Roselyn Refuerzo, and Raynelle Santos, sons-in-law Aaron Shelenberger, Donald Refuerzo, and Gene Santos, grandchildren Katie Refuerzo, Christy Roe (John), Gelli Santos, AJ Shelenberger, Mark Refuerzo, and KG Santos. Celebration of the life of Rod will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, 9:00 am at Calvary Methodist Church, Blanding Blvd., Orange Park.
