Roger Dean Atkins, 69, of Rockbridge, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. Roger was born on August 27, 1955, in Gallipolis, Ohio, the son of the late Maxine (Lucas) Miller and Jason Dexter Atkins. He was married to Lori (Kreider) Atkins who survives.
Roger served in the US Army with the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War. He was a hardworking and God-fearing man. He had several careers including Atkins Unlimited Services and Lancaster Equipment Rental. Roger always put his family and friends first. He enjoyed westerns and John Wayne, and he also enjoyed long drives in the car.
Roger is survived by his wife; daughters, Crystal (Lloyd) Strawser of Logan, Elizabeth Atkins and Grace Atkins of Rockbridge; grandchildren, Destiny Hoffman, Trent Hoffman, Lilly (Nicholas) Stepp, and Trevor Atkins; great grandson, Michael Dean Hoffman; siblings, Dexter Eugene Atkins, Deborah (John) Haning; Kimberly (Steve) Boggs, Melissa Marcum, and Christina (Deane) Neal; step-father, Kenny (Yvonne) McIntosh; and numerous nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean Atkins, and sister-in-law, Rhonda Atkins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan. Interment will be in New Fairview Memory Gardens, Rockbridge. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family welcomes flowers or donations to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
