Roger Basto Obituary
Roger was born on September 8, 1963 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Keith and Kathleen Basto. He attended Calumet Public Schools and completed up to 11th grade at CHS.
He met his partner Jody Scherer and they were together for 40 years.
Roger worked as a home health aide until he couldn't anymore. He had various local jobs in the community over the years including working as a taxi driver for Greg's Taxi in Laurium, and helping with the garbage for Bukema's garbage company.
Roger loved to fish in secret spots in the Keweenaw and at the camp in Bootjack, drive his muscle cars, listen to country and rock n' roll music, camp, and spend time with family and friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his mother Kathleen (Lieveska) Basto and his uncle Arther Lieveska.
He is survived by his life partner Jody Scherer, his only daughter Jennifer (Brandon) Dulong, sister Melissa Huuki (Donald Brooks), brothers Rodney Basto, and Randy (Kelly) Basto, father Keith (Alice) Basto, step sons Andrew, Bruce, and Brian Scherer, step grandchildren Caiden, Leah, Preston, Keegan, and Zoey, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his fur grandchildren Tubs, Daisy, Alphy, and Toby.
A Celebration of Life for Roger will be held for immediate family and friends on October 11, 2025 at 3:00pm at his daughter Jennifer's house.
