Roger McRae Bigham

Roger McRae Bigham died February 20, 2025 at his home in Sylva, NC. He was born in Charlotte, N.C. August 21, 1959, son of Helen Carr Bigham and Richard Franklin Bigham. His formative years were spent in the Steele Creek area of Mecklenburg County. Roger was a graduate of Olympic High School, Class of 1977. For most of his career, he worked in the electrical construction industry. He spent the first part of his career in the Charlotte area before moving to Sylva 18 years ago.

Throughout his life, Roger enjoyed being a casual student of history, the outdoors, and making new friends over a cold beer.

Roger is survived by his fiancé/ partner of 15 years, Melinda Lapuglia, of the home. Other survivors are Richard Bigham and wife Karen of Weaverville, NC and Mary Larkin Hoffman and husband Brian of Lake Wylie, SC. Also surviving are nieces and nephew Mac Hoffman, Leah Bigham, and Ginny Sciba and husband Nick.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Helen Bigham. He was also preceded in death by a special young lady who was much like a daughter to him, Jessica Kirkland. 

A gathering to remember Roger will be held at a time and place to be determined.
