Roger Norman Bostain

Roger Norman Bostain, 77, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Roger was born October 25, 1945, in Catawba County, to the late Jacob Bostain and Ruth Drum Bostain. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Roger served in the Army and had a successful career in the transportation industry, adding to his experience; a movie set driver in the film, The Last of the Mohicans. He was an active member of the George Hildebran Ruritan Club and a member of the Wilkies Grove Baptist Church. Traveling the world with his wife, Peggy, camping and fishing were a significant part of his life and he enjoyed telling stories about his adventures. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lowman Bostain; brothers, Robert Bostain and Richard Bostain.

He is survived by his son, Jamie Bostain and wife Angie of Hickory; daughter, Jana Bostain and significant other Terry Miller of Hildebran; grandchildren, Hunter Bostain, Taylor Bostain, and Brady Bostain; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 28, at 12 p.m. at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor Thurman Roe officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, on Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the church.
