Roger L. Boutin

BEECHER FALLS – Roger L. Boutin, 94, of Beecher Falls, Vt., died at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in W. Stewartstown early on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, after a period of failing health, with his family by his side.
He was born in La Patrie, Quebec, on Nov. 9, 1928, a son to the late Joseph and Estelle (LaRoche) Boutin. Roger began working in the woods at a young age and later emigrated to work at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen. He had planned to only work there a couple of weeks and then return to logging in the woods, but the novelty of regular paycheck kept him at Ethan Allen for almost 40 years.
He was also a former member of the Beecher Falls Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and making maple syrup at the family sugar shack. He was a gentle soul and always greeted everyone with a warm smile. To his grandchildren, he was the "fix it" guy who could repair anything. Roger also loved to go dancing with his wife. He and Hélene were often seen on Saturday nights at the Northland dancing the night away.
Roger's wife of 66 years survives him, Hélene (Vaillancourt) Boutin of Beecher Falls, along with his children, Levis Boutin and wife Judy of Beecher Falls, Francis and Connie Boutin of Corinth, Vt., and Judith Cole and her husband Brian of Cotuit, Mass.; his son-in-law, Jason Laughton and his wife Donna of Clarksville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a daughter, Chantal Laughton in 1993, and nine siblings, Thomas Boutin, Roland Boutin, Clement Boutin, Alyre Boutin, Emile Boutin, Hilaire Boutin, Gerard Boutin, Rene Boutin, and Aurore Brochu.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. The family will receive visitors from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the service. A graveside committal will immediately follow at St. Albert's Cemetery in W. Stewartstown.
