Roger Nelson Butler "Punch" 75, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 31, 2013. He was born March 18, 1938 in Bedford, IN to the late Jack and Florence (Harris) Butler. Roger graduated from Shortridge High School and Indiana University. Roger proudly obtained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and served all over the world in the United States Navy and retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Roger was a member of Masonic Prospect Lodge #714, American Legion Post #497, Fleet Reserve Association and the Navy Club USA Ship 35. He is survived by his son, Mark Butler; daughter, Linda Butler of Norfolk, VA; sisters, Monita Garner, Corraine Burford of Shelbyville, IN; grandchildren, Benjamin and Jonathan Butler, and Brittney and Danielle Bostwick. Friends may call Friday, April 5, 2013 from 10am-12pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive Indianapolis, Indiana 46228. Funeral service will follow at noon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story. SENIOR CHIEF BUTLER WAS MY BOSS IN SUPPLY SUPPORT CENTER ON BOARD USS CONCORD AFS-5 from year 81-84. I searched for Him from the time I got my first computer in June 2004 till I found Him here in late 2019. I was very greatly and sadly grieved that it was to late. Nevertheless I found Him my Senior Chief at last and with great sadness I reported this link to The USS CONCORD AFS-5 Association. In Order to Honor Him and His Duty to The United States of America and its Finest NAVY and His Service onboard THE USS CONCORD. I'm so sorry Senior Chief Roger N Butler SW,USN That I never got to thank you for your leadership and friendship to a AKAR THUR AK3 RATE/RANK DEC 1981 - end of 1984.
