Roger Campbell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ferrara Colonial Mortuary - Orange on Feb. 28, 2026.
Roger Lee Campbell, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Orange, California, at the age of 90. Born on September 16, 1935, in Missouri, Roger's life was marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a passion for the great outdoors.

Roger's journey began in the heart of the Midwest, where he attended local schools in St. Joseph, Missouri. After high school, he answered the call of duty, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. His eight years of honorable service included a memorable time in Ottawa, Canada, where he met the love of his life, Mariette Cuillierrier, at the Marine Ball. Their whirlwind romance led to marriage on March 9, 1959, just three months after they first danced together. The couple renewed their vows in Missouri, solidifying their commitment to each other in a church setting before moving to California, where Roger concluded his military service at El Toro Marine Base.

Roger's post-military life was characterized by his dedication to education and professional growth. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Cal State Fullerton and subsequently obtained his Insurance License. He pursued a successful career in the insurance industry for nearly four decades, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues and clients alike.

Family was the cornerstone of Roger's life, and he is survived by his loving daughter Christine and her husband Kevin Cariato; his adored grandchildren, Lindsay Alcott, Adam Rezner, Eric Rezner, and Dylan Cariato; as well as his special niece, Theresa Yinger. His legacy of love is also reflected in the warm memories cherished by his extended family and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mariette Campbell, and his daughter, Debbie Rezner.

Roger's zest for life was evident in his numerous interests and hobbies. He was a big animal lover, especially fond of raising Boston Bull Terriers. An avid outdoorsman, Roger relished fishing trips with his grandsons, creating lasting memories and fostering a love for nature. His passion for sports was unparalleled, with a particular affinity for boxing, of which he was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable fan. Roger also coached his daughter Christine's softball team for many years, instilling values of teamwork and perseverance.

Together with his wife, Roger became an expert in the collection and appreciation of Stereoviews and Stereoscopes. They traveled to trade shows as true historians, sharing their knowledge and passion for these historical treasures. Their home was also filled with history books, a testament to their love of the past. Together they traveled the world their knowledge of all things worldly was so impressive, they would have faired well as travel agents for the ages.

Roger's love for cinema was another defining aspect of his life. A huge movie buff, he cherished the experience of watching films in the theater, reveling in the stories and the magic of the big screen. His enthusiastic spirit meant he was always ready for an adventure, whether it was a family road trip to Colorado or Missouri, or simply exploring the beauty of the National Parks.

Kind, loving, and spirited, Roger Lee Campbell lived a life full of purpose and joy. His warm presence and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Roger's story is one of a life well-lived, and he will forever be remembered with fondness and gratitude.
