Roger G. Clauss

Roger passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Willows of Bay City Assisted Living at the age of 90. He was born to the late Rufus and Esther (Timrich) Clauss on June 17, 1935 in Bay City. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church for many years. He retried after a long career with Gregory Construction as a carpenter. Roger was a big supporter of his grandchildren’s sporting events and you could always find him in the stands cheering them on.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Melanie (Todd) Mastic; son, Roger (Ashley) Clauss; grandchildren, Lauren Mastic (Jason McDaniel), AJ (Megan) Mastic, Alex Mastic, Paige Clauss (fiancé, Connor Mitchell) and Ella Clauss (Nate Dahlberg); brother-in-law, Henry (Brenda) Schultz and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roger is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Kay H. (Schultz) Clauss.

Funeral service for Roger will take place on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church with a private interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family will be present to receive visitors at Gephart Funeral Home on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
