Roger Allen Conner Jr., 38, passed away lovingly surrounded by family on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 30th at Munden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Allen was born on November 29, 1985, in Greenville, North Carolina, to the late Roger and Rita Conner. He grew up in Beaufort in the North River community and enjoyed spending fun days on the water, reading, and learning. He was inquisitive and, from a very early age, astounded his family with his ability to retain the things he read. As a dedicated student, Allen graduated from East Carteret High School and East Carolina University with many accolades and honors.
His love of learning continued into his professional career where he worked to promote accessible STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) EdTech products and services to underserved populations across eastern North Carolina. Most recently, he directed marketing activities for a program connecting educators with their ideal organizations and roles. His work gave him the opportunity to travel, interact with influential people, and to impact efforts for equitable education but he stayed humble and could always be counted on for a kind word and a great laugh about the simple things.
Allen loved his family and had selflessly cared for his mother during her noble battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his aunt, Florence Mann; uncle, Robert ‘Bobby’ Murdoch and wife Vicki; cousins, Lynn Elvington and husband Gil, Keith Taylor and wife Lee, Robert VanDyke, William Murdoch, and Colleen Taylor and fiancé Darion Upton.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Allen was preceded in death by his sister, Harmony Leigh Conner, and aunt, Patricia Murdoch.
