Roger Creech
January 20, 1932 – March 21, 2025
La Grange-Roger Chester Creech, 93, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. Roger was born in Lenoir County to the late John Miller Creech and Maude Foyles Creech on January 20, 1932. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Creech.
Valiantly serving our country, Roger was an airman in the Navy and honorably served for four years. Returning home, he began a lifelong career as a farmer where his love of the land and hardworking nature went hand in hand with a quality crop. Roger could cure a barn of tobacco as pretty as any in the area.
Deeply involved in his community, Roger served in various capacities through the years. As a Shriner, he formerly served as the South Atlantic Shriners Association president. Also a member of the North Lenoir Water Corporation, he served there a tenure as president as well.
Roger loved to joke as much as he loved to work. Constantly picking on those he loved most, he was always up for a good laugh.
A service of love and remembrance will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Hank Jarman officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00. Committal will follow the service at Westview Cemetery.
Roger is survived by his wife of 66 years, Belva Aldridge Creech; daughters, Deborah Ann Coltren, Sue Summerlin (Nathan Harrison), and Wanda Hughes (husband: Charles Hughes ) ; grandchildren, Pam Houge (husband: Mike Houge), Ashley Coltren (husband: Jordan Yarbrough), Brandy Rosario (husband: Anthony Rosario), Amber Hughes, and Tara Hughes; great-grandchildren, Hunter Colie, Blake Colie, Logan Houge, Hunter Kite, Kimberly Kite, and Steven Kite; sister, Barbara Jean Joyner (husband: Wayne Joyner ); and sister-in-law, Jean Dodd Creech.
