 ROGER DARELL DEERING

Roger D. Deering, 87, of Saginaw, formerly of Cass City, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in his home. He was born October 7, 1938 in Cass City to George Adam and Mattie (Bingham) Deering. He married Gazella Jean Muska on her birthday, May 18, 1968 in Caro Lutheran Church. She died March 7, 2016.

Roger graduated from Owendale High School. He served in the United States Navy for four years.  Roger worked for Pontiac Motors until his retirement. Roger loved his wife, the love of his life, Jean more than anything and treasured the many dances they shared together. Together, they enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, and trips to the casino. Roger also liked to play cards at the community center and watch old westerns on the television. He was a family guy and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his children: Carl (Frances) Palmateer, Jr. of White Post, VA; Joel Palmateer of Chattanooga, TN; Julie (Robert) Palmateer-Brown of Phoenix, AZ; Deann Luana of Vassar; Mark (Birgitt) Deering of Cass City; Kristy Deering of Las Vegas, NV; Kelly (Kimberly) Deering of Shields; grandchildren: Alex Palmateer, Abby Palmateer, Gabe Palmateer, Lyndi Trischler, Kalen Trischler, Lydia Koehler, Emily Koehler, Ryan (Amber) Johnson, Brett Deering, Kristen (Vincent) Curnutt, Cody Orban; great grandchildren: Rylen, Emery, David, Cheyanne, Matthew, Aidyn, Noelle, Jaden; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; grandson, Austin Deering; great grandson, Luca; siblings: Duane Deering, Valerie Downing.

Remembrance time 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City. Military honors conducted by Cass City V.F.W. Post #3644 and the United States Navy Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Toys for Tots.
