Roger Folk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home on Dec. 10, 2025.
On December 8, 2025, Roger "Leon" Folk completed his work on this earth.
To us, he was our protector, our problem solver, and our selfless provider. He never cared about being popular; he simply did what he believed was right and worked tirelessly to achieve any goal he set. As the song says, "Daddy's hands weren't always gentle, but I've come to understand-there was always love in Daddy's hands."
A man "cut from an old-school cloth," he didn't often advertise affection through hugs or words, but his love was unmistakable.
Leon loved fiercely-his wife, Linda; his daughters, Renate and Mechele; his grandchildren, Miranda, Elizabeth, Douglas, Maddux, and Reggie; his great grandson, Layton; his sons-in-law, Bert Harshbarger and Dave Riesen; and his grandsons-in-law, Sean Long and Nathan Melton.
Born in Anthony, Kansas, on December 5, 1945, and raised in Alfalfa County, Leon earned a diesel mechanics degree from the Oklahoma State Technical Institute in Okmulgee. He married Linda on July 15, 1967. His service in the U.S. Army stationed him in Stuttgart, Germany, where Renate was born on Thanksgiving of 1968. Their daughter Mechele arrived on Halloween of 1974.
Leon spent many years working in the natural gas industry and helping on the family farm. Countless cherished memories were made at the lake, where the family spent much of their time together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Elva Robins Folk, and his brother, Cleon Folk.
