Roger Arnold Free, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, in his hometown of Canton, GA. Born there on April 30, 1948, Roger's life was a testament to service and kindness.
His commitment to his country was evident through his honorable tenure as a veteran of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. Family was the cornerstone of Roger's life, his love for them profound, especially for his grandchildren. He was a man of quiet presence but immense impact, always ready to lend a helping hand. His simple, giving, and sweet demeanor has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Roger's memory will be fondly remembered as a beacon of love and generosity, resonating through the lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Inez Free; Roger is survived by his children, Greg Free, Bryan Free (Laura), and Heather Tucker (Tom); grandchildren, Evelyn Free, Carter Free, and Brant Tucker; brothers, Tommy Free (Barbara), Duane Free (Sherrie), and Rudy Free (Sara); sister, Gail Goss; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery.
