Roger "Butch" C. Gorecki
Age 76, of AuGres, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on December 8, 2025. Butch was born on October 20, 1949, in Omer, Michigan, to the late Elaine Meebore/Corey. Butch was raised in AuGres, Michigan, and following the 12th grade, he married the love of his life, Katherine (Thomas) Gorecki, on August 31, 1968. They were married in Flint, Michigan, and began their life in that area. Shortly after that in 1970, Butch was drafted into the United States Army. He served our country proudly for two years and spent time in Vietnam. He was awarded three Purple Heart Medals along with a Bronze Star Medal. When Butch returned from the military, he began working for Fisher Body in Flint, Michigan, making Buick vehicles for about ten years. Katherine and Butch then were married again in the St. Pius Catholic Church to raise their children as Catholics. They raised a family of two daughters whom Butch adored dearly.
The family relocated back to AuGres, Michigan, where Butch began working as a maintenance employee for the Standish Hospital. He spent about ten years there before he retired in 1998. Some of Butch's favorite hobbies consisted of fishing, camping, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a hardworking man who cared greatly about those who were close to him, and he will be missed dearly by many.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Katherine Gorecki; daughter, Holly Donahue/Gorecki; grandchildren, Nathan (Sarah) Spencer, Chelsie (James) Gorecki, Corey (Molly) Gorecki, Taylor (Brad) Spencer, Bailey Donahue, Eli Donahue, and Ian Donahue; great grandchildren, Zaiden Manor, Hunter Spencer, Abel Manor, and Kyler Spencer; and his nieces and nephews, Ashley Watts, Courtney Vanauken, and Johnathan (Whitney) Vanauken. Butch is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Meebore/Corey; daughter, Rogina Spencer; and his sister, Cathy Vanauken.
