Douglas "Doug" Wayne Emch

Age 76, of Oscoda, MI, formerly of Algonac, MI passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 18, 1949 in Detroit, MI to the late John and Marcella (Genaw) Emch. Douglas graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Detroit, MI and went on to join the United States Air Force in 1968, faithfully serving during the Vietnam War. Douglas married Debra Ann Waters on January 12, 1996. He spent many years working for AT&T, formerly known as Michigan Bell, serving in many different roles throughout his time there. Over the years, Douglas enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors with his family and was a member of the American Legion in the Detroit area. He is survived by his loving wife, Debra; children, Douglas Emch, II, Shawn (Theresa) Emch, Kimberly (Michael) Carter, Michael Casper (Lisa) and Jennifer Thompson; siblings, Donaldson (Donna) Emch, Michael (Janet) Emch, John (Elley) Emch, Robert Emch, Joseph (Cheryl) Emch and Sharon Bell; grandchildren, Garth Redmon, Cody Emch, Logan Carter, Joseph Carter, Rebecca Hunrath, Brianna Smith and Brooklyn Thompson; great-grandchildren, Colt, Elsey and Memphis and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Catherine Emch; brother, John Bell; sister, Catherine Bruggeman and grandson, Dylan Carter. Douglas will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. The family will welcome friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11 AM until the time of service beginning at 2 PM at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City, MI. Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make donations to the local Iosco County Veterans Affairs at 671 E. M-55, Tawas City, MI 48763. You may offer your condolences online to the family at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
