Paulette Agnes Emch

Paulette Agnes Emch, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Paulette was born in Erie, PA on April 5, 1953, daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Bette) (Urmann) Markey. She was raised by her Aunt Agnes (Urmann) Meyer.

Paulette graduated from Harborcreek High School. Paulette married Barry on June 5, 1976, they were married 48 years. Paulette worked alongside her husband at the Erie School District, from which she retired as Timekeeper/Dispatcher.

In addition to her parents and Aunt Agnes, she was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Lee Emch who passed away June 29, 2024.

Paulette and Barry had two children together, daughter Carissa, married to Matthew Atwell, and a son, Barry Matthew Emch. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren Lauren Atwell and Owen Atwell. She is also survived by Denise (Urmann) (raised like sisters), married to Ron Emch, brother of Barry, and many special nieces and nephews she cared for deeply.

Through the years Paulette was a faithful companion and caretaker to Barry. She enjoyed spending time outside tending to her beautiful flowers, her green thumb enviable. She and Barry had a deep connection to animals, rescuing countless in need of loving homes. She was a loyal fan of the Gannon Women's Volleyball team, never missing a home game to watch her granddaughter play, and enjoyed watching her grandson play basketball during her many special visits to the Mars Area. During the last year of her life, she discovered comradery at the Erie Cancer Wellness Center where remarkably special friendships blossomed, attending chair yoga, journaling, grief counseling and various special events. Paulette's strength was immeasurable, her nature sweet and kind; she will be missed, remembered and always loved.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St. on Friday, August 22nd from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00pm. The service will be live-streamed at https://www.facebook.com/BurtonQuinnScott/.
