Roger Groenewoud, a devoted husband, beloved father, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, in Douglas, Michigan, with his wife Margaret and family lovingly by his side. His presence was a quiet strength, and his absence leaves a tender ache in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born in Grand Haven, Michigan, Roger built a respected career as a Laboratory Technician in the Printing and Packaging industry. He was admired for his precision, reliability, and the kindness he extended to colleagues and friends alike.

Roger met Margaret through mutual friends and family—a gathering that would become the beginning of a beautiful chapter in both their lives. They were married on January 4, 2004, joining their families and deepening the bonds of love and companionship. With five daughters between them—Joyell Groenewoud, Melony Bradford, Lisa Oberth, Karin Engel, and Crystl Peterson—Roger embraced each one with warmth, respect, and a heart full of love.

Family was Roger’s heart. He treasured shared memories, from adventures in Munich and Austria to the scenic charm of Gatlinburg and the wide-open beauty of the American West. These journeys were filled with laughter, connection, and the occasional competitive round of Command & Conquer, where Roger’s playful side came to life.

Nature was Roger’s sanctuary. He found peace in fishing and joy in simply being outdoors. Though he had no favorite fishing spot, the act itself brought him serenity. His fondness for moose reflected his deep appreciation for wildlife and the quiet majesty of the natural world.

Roger is lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret; his daughters, Joyell, Melony, Lisa, Karin, and Crystl; and his siblings, Tom, Richard, Harry, and Vicki. He now joins in eternal rest with his parents, Richard and Pauline Groenewoud (Purdy), and his siblings Russell and Emmalyn, whose memories he held close.

Roger’s life was a testament to love, humility, and quiet dedication. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him—through stories shared, values upheld, and the enduring grace of his spirit.
