Roger A. Guldan, "Papa Roger/Big Kahuna," 87, of Marshfield, passed away on May 29, 2025, at Wells Nature View.
A memorial service will be held at Rembs Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12 at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Chaplain Randy Mantik will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhome. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield.
Rog was born on October 29, 1937 to Daniel and Elizabeth Guldan. He attended St. Andrew's Elementary and Marshfield High School. He was united in marriage to Janis Thompson on March 9, 1957.
Roger was an avid sportsman, participating in boxing, racing, baseball, hunting, and fishing. He boxed under Flossy Gust gym, achieving two Golden Gloves championships. He then continued in the sport as both a coach and judge for many years. He raced dirt track, late model ASA stock cars for many years, earning a basement full of trophies along with two MACCI "Driver of the Year" awards. Rog was president of the Badger Racing Association as well as the Central Wisconsin Sportsman's Club. He served on the board of Whitetails Unlimited for 26 years and was also a gun safety and snowmobile safety instructor. He enjoyed getting his children and grandchildren outdoors. His late wife Jan often remarked that his favorite pastime was "dirtying up the house" while cooking and canning wild game, and making smoked fish.
He also loved to travel, visiting most of the United States as well as parts of Canada and Ireland.
Roger was employed by Maurer Supply in his younger years and later as a manager at Midstate Contracting for several decades.
Surviving are his children Deb Guldan and her husband Keith Olson, Scott Guldan and his wife Renae, and daughter-in-law Kathy Guldan. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Beau Serchen and his son Bryant, Brant Serchen and his wife Shannon and their children Olivia and Miles, Katy Bechtel and her husband Justin and their children Lennon, Boone, and Ripp, Alyssa Quinlan and her husband Tim and their children Declan, Watson, and Foster, and Tad Guldan (Jordyn) and his children Ezra and Bennett. Also surviving are many brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Rog in death are his wife Jan, his son Rick, his granddaughter Kasey, and his parents. Also passing on before him were his siblings Robert, Raymond, Mary Ann, Ronnie, Rosie, and Dan Junior.
Memorials in his name may be made to George W. Meade State Wildlife Area.
