Roger A. Hake, age 94, of Edon, Ohio, passed away at 7:14 P.M. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Park View Care Center, Edgerton, where he had been a resident. Mr. Hake was a 1947 graduate of Edon High School. He was a farmer and machinist by trade and a devoted member of Columbia Church of Christ, where he was a Sunday School teacher and Elder. In addition to the farming Roger and his wife raised feeder cattle and seven thousand chickens. He enjoyed mowing and tending to his fruit trees, took annual trips to New Mexico for many years, but most of all, enjoyed time at the lake with his family.
Roger A. Hake was born on May 26, 1929, in Edon, Ohio, the son of Albert and Alice (Shearer) Hake. He married his wife of sixty-nine years, Dorothy (Friskney) Hake, on August 5, 1949, in the first formal wedding conducted at Columbia Church of Christ, and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2019.
Surviving are daughters, Carol Martin, of Pioneer, Ohio, and Connie (Randy) Allomong, of Edon; one son, Ron (Elaine) Hake, of Montpelier; eight grandchildren, Troy, Carrie, Tad, Jeremy, Jamie, Jared, Brandi and Chad; seventeen great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Arlene Hake, of Edon, Donna Oberlin, of Hamilton and Ruth Friskney, of Hammersville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Colleen Hake four brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at Columbia Church of Christ, Columbia, Ohio. Services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Pastor Jeremy Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Edon Cemetery.
