Roger Dale Hamilton, 78, of Walkerton, IN, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Brickyard Health-Terrace Care Center.
Roger was born on July 10, 1947, in La Porte, IN, to Robert and Edith (Brown) Hamilton.
On February 25, 1967 in Mill Creek, IN, he married Shirley Hamilton who survives. Also surviving are his 2 children, Michelle Hamilton of Westville and Jeffrey Hamilton of La Porte; daughter-in-law, Angela Hamilton; granddaughter, Hannah (Tyler) Johnston of Portage; sisters, Roxanne Jermolowicz of Tampa, FL, Robin Saboski of Columbia City, and Roberta Davis of Lake Station; brother, Ralph (Cindy) Hamilton of Mill Creek; stepbrother, Willard Brown of Mill Creek; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Cleda Hamilton; sister, Trudy Lamb; and brother, Rodney Hamilton.
Roger proudly served in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he continued to serve others as a volunteer firefighter for over 37 years with the Lincoln Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Walkerton Volunteer Fire Department. His commitment to others was focal to his life.
For 39 years, Roger owned and operated the Hamilton Service Center in Walkerton, offering automotive repairs. He loved flying his power parachute and sharing his passion with others. Roger not only enjoyed taking others for rides on his parachute, but also instructing others to fly, as he was a certified instructor.
Roger was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church and the Walkerton Volunteer Fire Department. He deeply loved his family and the time he spent with them.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Josh Carney and Rev. Dr. Dan Lute officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. on December 5, 2025 and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
