Roger Hoffman

Holgate - Roger Eugene Hoffman age 77, died peacefully Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025 in his Holgate home surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was born June 29, 1948, to Eugene A. and Caroline M. (Gerken) Hoffman in Napoleon. He graduated from Holgate High School in 1967 and shortly after enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. On December 28, 1974, he married Mary Sylvia Michaelis. Roger has been a lifelong farmer and worked for Gerald Grain for many years. He has always enjoyed working outdoors, from splitting firewood to driving the Gator from field to field, checking on the crops. Roger was a member of the Holgate American Legion #340 and a former Henry County 4-H advisor. When he wasn't outside, he was inside with his model train and toy tractor collection, enjoying a word search puzzle or spending time with his dogs, Barney and Holly. He dearly loved and was proud of his 8 grandchildren: Logan, Nathan, Lexie, Will, Sydney, Katelyn, Kendall and Kalli. Roger is also survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; 3 daughters: Laura (Alex) Miller, Holgate, Linda (Brian) Wierzba, Kettering and Krissy (Kent) Liechty, Archbold; and brothers Dennis (Darlene) Hoffman, Holgate and Dale (Rose) Hoffman, Archbold. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Robert.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. in the Zachrich Family Funeral Home of Holgate. Everyone is welcome to come back to the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 a.m. until the Celebration of Roger's Life at 10 a.m. with Reverend Theodore Rellstab officiating.
