Roger E. Kaschner of the Town of Jackson, died on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 after a long and courageous fight with cancer at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center at the age of 77 years. He was born April 4, 1947 in Milwaukee to the late Roman and Ruth (nee Heidtke) Kaschner.
He was a life long resident of the Town of Jackson. After graduating from high school, he entered into the United States Army and served 1 year in Vietnam as a front-line infantryman in the war. Following his discharge, he returned home and began his tool and die schooling at Moraine Park Technical College in West Bend. After completing a five-year apprenticeship, he continued his employment as a tool maker for 19 years. For 8 of those years, he owned and managed his own shop. He then spent 27 years employed at Willer Tool and Die in Jackson, retiring at the age of 68.
On June 14, 1969, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Knuth at Covenant Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
He was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, helping in many areas of need. He served on Trinity Board of Education and Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School Board. While in business, he held memberships in Society of Plastic Engineers and West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce.
He always enjoyed traveling with his wife. They traveled together with their family or with their special group of friends throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico. He regularly got together with family or card club friends to play sheepshead and socialize. He enjoyed playing pickleball and liked to grow succulent and cacti plants. Above all else, spending time with his family was the best part of his life.
His family includes his wife, Marilyn; their children: Nathan (Georgina) Kaschner of Sherwood, Lynda (Stuart) Kissinger of Jackson and Kimberly (Joseph) Kuckuk of West Bend; grandchildren: Gavin, Savannah, Boe, Sabastian, Shane and Theodore; 1 sister Ruthanne (John) Geldon; 2 brothers: the late William (Janice) Kaschner and Daniel (Mary) Kaschner; 1 brother-in-law Martin (Barbara) Knuth; 1 sister-in-law Marlene (William) Poellot; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 31 at 5 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1268 Pleasant Valley Rd, West Bend (Town of Jackson). Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday, May 31 from 2 until 4:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School appreciated.
