Richard W. Zahnow, age 83 of Richfield, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Kathy Hospice in West Bend, surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born August 15, 1940, to Edna (nee Bartz) and Walter Zahnow. After high school he served our country overseas in the United States Army. Richard was united in marriage to LaVerne M. Pusch on January 21, 1967 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford. Together they were longtime members of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls. Richard worked as a machine assembler his entire career for several large manufacturing companies. Richard enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, gardening, golfing, snowmobiling, attending sporting events, particularly his grandchildren's. Earlier years, he enjoyed playing dartball and baseball on the Land O' Lakes team, as well as bowling with his wife on the Sunday night church league and going out for Friday night fish fry's.
Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Amy (Kent) Kaelberer and Lori (Aaron) Krueger; cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn and Ryan Kaelberer, Noah and Natalie Krueger; and dear brother, Ken (Joan) Zahnow. He is further survived by loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan Zahnow; parents-in-law and 10 siblings-in-law; and his beloved wife of 56 years, LaVerne.
Funeral Services for Richard will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street Hartford, WI 53027. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. -5:50 p.m.
Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery Hartford, WI will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, led by procession from the funeral home.
