Jan M. Lindborg, age 101, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at her rural home in Hartford, Wisconsin, where she had resided since 2010. Born on a Palm Sunday, April 13, 1924, to Clair and Adeline Underwood in Delaware, Ohio, Jan later wrote that, "I weighed enough." She had one brother, Richard C. Underwood, who died in 1992 in Manhattan Beach, California.

Jan attended Ohio State University (OSU) in Columbus, Ohio where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and the OSU 'May Queen.' Jan was an active swimmer and a member of OSU's first synchronized swimming team. She graduated in 1945 with a major in Fine Arts and a minor in Architecture. In Columbus, she worked at the OSU Library, the OSU Physics department as a graphic artist, the Federal Glass Company, and F & R Lazarus as a draftsperson in the Engineering Department

Jan married Charles Leon Lindborg in 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, who also graduated from OSU as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. They later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she worked as a designer and draftsperson, and Charles worked as a veterinarian in the Admore Veterinary Clinic. In 1948, Jan and Charles moved to Monticello, Indiana where they started and expanded the Monticello Animal Hospital. In Monticello, they raised four children: Eric, Kristina, Jon, and Mark.

Jan contributed significantly to improving the Monticello community. As the first woman member of the Twin Lakes School Corporation Board of Directors and its Vice President, she advocated for its reorganization and improved facilities. She held various Board positions for the Monticello/Union Township Library, including Vice President. Jan was an active member of the Monticello First Presbyterian Church. She also worked with the White County Literacy Volunteers as a tutor for Spanish speakers.

The Lindborgs hosted ten foreign exchange students, as well as several other young "semi-permanent visitors" as she affectionately called them. Jan was honored as a Rotary Foundation "Paul Harris Fellow" in recognition of her support for the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. In 2009, she was recipient of the Monticello Chamber of Commerce 'Spencer Award' Volunteer of the Year for her contributions to promoting the arts and learning in the community. Beyond Monticello, Jan also supported the veterinary profession as President of the Indiana Veterinary Association Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2004. She is survived by her four children; grandchildren Analise, Andrea, Daniel and Ryan; and great grandchildren Israel and Naima.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11 AM in Hartford, Wisconsin where she was a member. In lieu of flowers, Jan requested that any gifts go to the Jack Russell Memorial Library or the Schauer Arts & Activities Center.

Jan's legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories we hold dear. An accomplished artist - and like her art works - she was a work of art.
