Coach K was my English & Tiger tennis coach (class of 90). Many laughs and memories in the classroom and on the courts. On the bus rides to our away matches, we'd listen WPLJ and play name that tune, always giving Coach the first guess.
While not an avid tennis player...coach would stand at the net with as many balls as he could handle, and throw them all over the place...making me run around like a maniac!
You have been and will remain sorely missed Coach...especially this year as my class celebrates it's 30th anniversary.
Love and prayers to your families!

Dear Kindel Family,
Sorry to hear this news. He was a great man and a good friend to me. I first met him when I was a basketball player and golfer for DelVal in the late 1980's. He and Bill Werkiser (DelVal basketball and golf coach) were good friends. In 1996, I returned to DelVal to coach the golf team and Roger immediately made me feel comfortable. We had a lot in common and his sense of humor was great. He liked to use the same funny comments year after year but they were still funny. He helped build a camaraderie between the Freedom conference coaches with slogans like "Freedom Forever" and "everything inside the leather". As a coach I watched him be stern with his players when he needed and fun with them at other times. I was always impressed about how many golf conference championships he won. Our teams would play in dual matches together about 2X per year mainly because we liked each other and it was good for the players.
I am going to miss Roger.
Sincerely,
Doug

I am so very sorry to hear of Coach's passing. I was one of his "basketball girls", one of the boys' team managers for a number of years while at FDU-Madison in the mid-80's. He was a great guy with a great sense of humor - he always kept it lively. I am so happy that I saw him a couple of years ago at Madison's homecoming - it was great to catch up for a little while. My deepest sympathy to his family.

To the family of Mr. Kindel I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am a student of his from DHS class of 1982! I remember is blonde hair and huge smile, lots of laughs and a great teacher. He is one that made high school fun to go through. May he rest in peace and may your memories keep your heart full of warmth.

Dear Kindel Family:

I am so sorry for your loss. Roger was a kind man who voluntarily helped me on a project at work. We did not know each other all that well but he had my back and was so sweet. I found out later from colleagues that 's the kind of guy he was.

It's only been a few hours now that I heard the news and while I'm immensely sad, a smile comes to my face in reliving a myriad of memories about a man whose mission in life was to make all of those who he touched better!

He loved to spread joy to all in his sphere, while making sure those young people he was responsible for got the life lessons needed to compete in society and win in the game of life!

To work with the man was not work at all, it was not a job to be Roger's colleague, it was a joy! Everyday was different, but there were some fundamentals to each day; a sense of humor, the ability to be self deprecating, the dedication and intense loyalty to current and past colleagues and to his players, past, and present, regardless of ability.

He was original, he was authentic, he was genuine, he was one of a kind, he did what he thought was right relentlessly, he was loyal, he was always coaching and no matter the record on the court, he was always winning!

The man should have had a nickname, but he didn't need one. While there is only one Wilt, one Kareem, one Clyde, there is only one Roger to those who had the blessings to know him!

Wooden's Definition of Success absolutely stamps the life of Roger Kindel as an unmitigated success, no matter the role you played in the game of life; husband, father, father in law, brother, grandfather, colleague, golf partner, coach, mentor or friend!

It is with great pride that I carry a piece of your memory moving forward! Blessings to the Kindel family in this trying time!

Here's to the next time I see you Rog in the future, calling Single for Garvin.

Fondly and Forever My Dear Friend,

Tom Bonerbo

I had the pleasure of knowing Roger for the past 10 years. He helped me prepare to become a Head Football Coach, a goal which I achieved this past month. I am glad I had the opportunity to be in contact with Roger while I was interviewing and when I accepted the job.

Roger was the coach of coaches at FDU, lending advice and challenging you to become better. His door was always open. The lessons he taught will live on through his fellow coaches, former players and students. He was a great man.

My condolences to the Kindel family.
