Roger Klemetson

Roger Allen Klemetson, 75, of Gwinner, ND passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023 at Four Seasons Healthcare, Forman, where he was under the care of hospice.
Roger was born August 30, 1947 at Britton, SD to Raymond and Selma (Jacobson) Klemetson. He graduated from North Sargent High School and completed two years at NDSSS prior to enlisting in the Navy. Roger served six years of active duty. During this time, he married Carolyn Bleecker on March 1, 1969. The marriage was blessed with the birth of two daughters. After his honorable discharge, they opened a TV and appliance business in Gwinner. In 1975 they purchased a much larger building in Forman. In 1979 they sold the business and relocated to Minnesota. Rog began his career at Honeywell, where he worked until 1995, at which time his division closed and he was laid off. He worked several jobs until Carolyn's retirement in 2005. It was at this time the decision was made to return to Gwinner, because Roger wanted to give back to the community that had given him so much while growing up. The move was made in 2007.
Roger was involved in Shriners and the Legion. He served on the cemetery board and was treasurer of the G.A. men's group. Roger was honored to have been chosen as citizen of the year in 2017.
Roger is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughter Cristy (Mike) McCoy; four grandchildren, Jeff (Kristin) Augustson, Abigail Driver, Kaitlyn McCoy, and Carson McCoy; two great-granddaughters, Brooklynn Smith and Avery Hanson; his brother Charles (Barbara) Klemetson; sisters-in-law Donna Bleecker, Ann (Randy) Burrow, Renae Bleecker and nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sherri and brother-in-law, Gerald Bleecker.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. followed by his funeral at 5:00 p.m. at Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church, Gwinner, ND. Roger's service will be live streamed on his obituary page. Burial will take place at the Gwinner Cemetery at a later date.
