Roger Dean Kunst, age 75 of Mankato died Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home in Mankato.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2023, at Mankato Mortuary. Burial will be at later date at Calvary Cemetery in New Richland, Minnesota.
Roger was born October 16, 1947, to Elaine Kunst in Mankato. He attended Mankato High School. Roger was drafted by the US Army on November 22, 1966. He served active duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968. Roger was united in marriage to Rebecca (Becky) Routh on May 31, 1969, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Roger worked over 25 years at Spartech Plastics in Mankato.
Roger was a longtime member of the Morson Ario and American Legion. Roger and Becky fostered countless infants awaiting adoption for Catholic Charities. In his free time, Roger most recently enjoyed playing bingo, blackjack and Pepsi in a glass bottle. In his younger years, Roger could be found at the roller rink or one of the area campgrounds with his family.
He is survived by his wife Becky; three sons, Dan (Lisa) Kunst of Eagle Lake, Chris (Chantal Heetland) Kunst of Madison Lake, Jamie (Becky) Kunst of Mankato; 10 grandchildren, Annie, Carter, Jackson, Chase, Chaylee, Carson, Chloe, Brody, Alex and Bennett; two brothers, Duane (Dee) Weaver and Kenny Weaver.
Preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Herman and Katie Kunst as well as his mother, Elaine and stepfather, Frank Weaver; step grandson, Tyler Kotewa.
