Roger Dale Lackey 78, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina died on November 22, 2025. He was born in South Bend, Indiana. He was the son of the late Edward Hollice and Ada Elinora Lackey.

Roger graduated from Riley High School in South Bend and was a proud member of the local band, The Teen Tones. After high school he was drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Washington, DC. While stationed in D.C. he married his hometown love Sharyn Lee Lackey. Roger and Sharyn made their home in Virginia, where he started his career in IT at the Bureau of Nation Affairs and also raised their family.

After retiring from BNA, Roger and Sharyn moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, which became their new home. In Myrtle Beach, Roger started a new career with the Horry County School System as a school bus driver. Roger and Sharyn also joined Christ the Servant Lutheran Church and became very involved members. Here is where Roger was able to continue his love and passion for music in the church band and choir.

Lifelong passions of Roger included coaching his two daughters in sports, playing golf, and being a member in multiple bands.

Roger was preceded by his parents, Edward and Elinora Lackey. Survivors include his loving wife, Sharyn Lackey, daughter Kimberlie Bowers and husband Frank, daughter Sandra Alford and husband Leroy, grandchildren, Kiley Bowers, Taylor Bowers, Steven Bowers, Jordan Alford, Kayla Alford. Great grandchildren, Andrew Alford and Isaac Alford-Wolford

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held on November 30, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2105 Highway 501-East, Conway, SC 29526. Interment within the church columbarium will immediately follow the service and the family will then gather to greet friends in the fellowship hall.
