Roger David McCleary, Sr., 81, of Shelbyville, formerly of New York, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Sunday, August 31, 2025. He retired from being a forklift mechanic after many years. He was a member of the Harvest Church in Eminence and had formerly been a 32-year member of Highway Tabernacle in Mechanicville, NY, before he moved to Kentucky. He enjoyed shooting guns, tinkering with cars, and was handyman who could do almost anything, including electrical and plumbing work. His greatest accomplishment, however, was serving Jesus and others. His daughter, Rachel, writes that he was "kind, loving, soft-spoken, funny and gentle. My Dad lived as a Godly example to everyone around….my Dad's legacy was his faith in Jesus Christ."

Mr. McCleary was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lena McCleary; his brothers, Thomas and David McCleary; and his sister, Merlene McCleary. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ginny McCleary of Shelbyville; his daughter, Marcia Thompson of Dania Beach, FL; his son, Roger McCleary (Pamela) of Northville, NY; his daughter, Rachel Hotaling (Chad) of Shelbyville; and his grandchildren, Joshua and Julia Hotaling, both of Shelbyville.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Harvest Church at 4750 Jackson Rd. Eminence, KY 40019. The Rev. Jeff Reynolds and Pastor Frank Scott will be officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the church.

Expression of sympathy may be made to Harvest Church 4750 Jackson Rd. Eminence, KY 40019 or Shelbyville Church of God Building Fund 2246 Taylorsville Rd. Shelbyville, KY. 40065.

The family requests that if any flowers are to be sent, a local florist would be used.
